And we are offf....

We left in the early morning before the break of dawn after a quick stop at Tim Hortons for a large coffee! We headed south down the #10 towards the border  in a shroud of fog following the hazy red glow of lights on the truck ahead of us. Hoar   frost clung  to the trees and the ponds and fields lay covered in snow presenting us a world of white.
The border crossing was uneventful with just the usual, where are you headed, how long , any fruit, alcohol, or cigarettes. The older agent marvelled at our wonderfully packed vehicle and then sent us on our way. We were not far down the road when out of the fog jumped two beautiful deer, crossing the road in front of us. Luckily, Roger spied the first one coming up the ditch onto the road and was able to stop  to let them pass. Good reflexes and good brakes and a little good luck!
The trip was rather uneventful for most of the day. We listened to an audio book from the library by Sandra Brown, a mystery called “The Switch. Not a real gripper but a good way to pass the drive.

A word of advise, avoid Minneapolis at 4 o’clock in the afternoon. Traffic was crazy and at times vehicles only inched along bumper to bumper. Thank goodness Roger was driving. We did eventually make it through and finally arrived in Eau Claire Wisconsin for the night.  Tomorrow is another long day,but with the bonus of stopping in Wisconsin Dells for some fabulous local cheese. We have a favourite cheese stop and it’s already in the GPS.

Well it’s time for bed......morning comes early......zzzzz!
